The 2016 Billboard Music Awards took place tonight and music’s biggest names were on hand. Below is a recap of the big show!

Millenium Award winner Britney Spears kicked off the show with a medley of her hits (shockingly, no ‘Baby One More Time’).

Pickering’s own Shawn Mendes performed an acoustic cover of his hit song ‘Stitches’ at the big show tonight.

The beautiful ladies of Fifth Harmony performed their smash hit collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign, ‘Work From Home’ (see that below). The ladies will release their new album ‘7/27’ this Friday!

Justin Bieber performed two hits off his Purpose album, ‘Company’ and ‘Sorry’:

Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato are set to head out on their Future Now tour at the end of next month and at tonight’s Billboard Music Awards, they gave fans a taste of what to expect!

Joe Jonas and his band DNCE took the Billboard Music Award stage and performed their catchy hit, ‘Cake By The Ocean’!

Pink gave a FLAWLESS performance of her hit song from the Alice Through The Looking Glass soundtrack, ‘Just Like Fire’.

Voice coaches Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani performed their duet ‘Go Ahead and Break My Heart’; The song is featured on Shelton’s new album, If I’m Honest.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as Kesha took the stage at the Billboard Music Awards to perform Bob Dylan’s ‘It Ain’t Me, Babe’. Considering all that she’s been through over the last year, it was an incredible sight to see her take the stage:

In a personal favourite of mine tonight, Rihanna performed ‘Love On The Brain’ from her ANTI album, a song that’s very different from traditional, pop, Hip-Hop Rihanna. Check out her performance below!

Meghan Trainor performed her hit ‘No’, but it was one of her fans who happened to be taking a selfie video during her performance that stole the show!

Celine Dion picked up the Icon Award and demonstrated how deserving she was of the award by performing a rendition of Queen’s ‘The Show Must Go On’! Celine got quite emotional when her son surprised her by presenting her with the award.

Ariana Grande performed her album title track ‘Dangerous Woman’ and gave a world premiere performance of her new single ‘Into You’, off her new album Dangerous Woman, which was released this past Friday.

The most anticipated performance of the night came from Madonna, who – with the help of Stevie Wonder- paid tribute to her friend, the late icon Prince in what will go down as one of the most memorable performances in Billboard history.

One of the more moving speeches came from The Weeknd, who picked up the award for Hot 100 Artist; he dedicated his speech to the late Prince.

He also had the best night of ANY male artist in history as he took home EIGHT awards!
