Summer is great for hanging outside with your friends and family, having a bbq and quite possibly, some drinks!!

BUT PLEASE BE CAREFUL!

We had no idea about this, but you can get an incredibly bad burn on your skin called “The Margarita Sunburn,” clinically known as Phytophotodermatitis. It occurs when lime juice gets on the skin and is exposed to UV light.

Wherever the juice hits the skin a chemical burn will occur that can take up to a month to fade.

We got the following pictures from HelloGiggles and instagram, some may find them disturbing.

So next time you’re making a citrus filled drink, or squeezing a lime into your Corona, make sure to wash your hands before going outside!!

If you have experienced this burn before and have any tips or tricks on how to treat it let us know!

THANKS!
