This summer has been a devastating summer in British Columbia. Hundreds of wildfires burn across the province, and the surrounding areas have also felt the affects of this. Here in Edmonton, we have been dealing with the smoke blowing in from the wildfires and, at one point, even had the worst air quality index on Earth because of the wildfire smoke.

Another place that has felt the affects of not only BC’s Wildfires, but California’s as well, is Spokane, Washington. Earlier this week, Caleb Moon created a facebook group called “Blow Spokane’s Smoke Away to Canada“. No, I’m not joking.

This is what the description of the event said:

“WARNING…STRONG SATIRE BELOW:

There are roughly 550,000 residents of the Spokane, Washington metropolitan area (per worldpopulationreview.com). To get rid of this smoke, we have to work together as a community. After much deliberation and mathematical calculation, we have figured that it is absolutely possible for us to blow this smoke away with high powered fans. This Friday, every resident must place at least 5 box fans on their roof. Turn your fans on to the highest setting, and aim them toward northeastern Canada. Team work makes the dream work. Let’s do this, Spokanites. Let’s send this smoke right back to those Canucks!”

Today, Caleb joined Kelsey to talk about the facebook group, and how much attention it has gathered. Listen below!

Caleb and his friends saw how much attention this facebook event was getting and used this situation as an opportunity to share ways you can help with this devastating wildfire season. They shared links to different organizations you can donate to, which you’ll find below!
