'Gossip Girl' Might Be Getting A Reboot!

Attention, Upper East Siders! ‘Gossip Girl’ might be getting a reboot and returning to the CW!

During this year’s Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour, CW President Mark Pedowitz mentioned, “There’s a discussion, but I don’t know if we’re there yet.”  Mark also dished, “I don’t know what it would be. A lot is up to Warner Bros. and [exec producers] Josh [Schwartz] and Steph[anie Savage], ’cause you don’t want to do anything without them.”

It’s safe to say that at least Blake Lively (Serena van der Woodsen) and Leighton Meester (Blair Waldorf) would be totally down! Back in April of 2017, Blake told Variety, “It sort of all depends.  Would I do seven years of the show? No, because it’s hard work and I’ve got my babies, and I don’t want to be away from them that much. But I’ve just learned in life you never say never. I’m looking to do something that I haven’t done yet, not something that I did. But would I do that? Who knows—if it was good, if it made sense. We had so much fun shooting and living and working in New York City.”

Then in August 2017, Leighton told Vanity Fair, “I guess I hear that [reunion talk] in fits and starts here and there, but it’s hard to say,” Meester said.. “If everyone was into it and if the timing was right, you know? I don’t want to say, ‘No, never…’” . But not all cast mates would be down for a reboot.  Towards the end of the series, Penn Badgley said the ‘show’s ending made no sense at all.’

‘Gossip Girl’ began in 2007 and ran for five seasons and ended in 2012.  The main cast included Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, Taylor Momsen, Ed Westwick, Kelly Rutherford, Matthew Settle, Jessica Szohr and Kaylee DeFer.
