When some people get home from work, the first thing they want to do is lay down on the couch, turn on the TV and not get up for the rest of the evening. For some, having a TV in their bedroom would be quite dangerous. Some people might not ever leave or get anything done at all.

Check out these pros and cons of watching TV in bed:

Pros

You Can Catch Up On the News: When you’re getting ready in the morning, you have the option to turn on the TV and get caught up on the day’s news before you even leave your apartment. You may be able to see what roads have the most traffic so that you can determine your route to work and avoid the congested areas.

Watch Your Favorite TV Shows: This could fall into both the pros and the cons category. On one hand, you can have the chance to catch up on your favorite TV shows when you hop into bed. After all, there’s nothing that gets your mind off of the day’s events like a good rerun of “Friends” or a new episode of “Downton Abbey”.

It Can Help You De-stress: The reason a lot of people love watching TV at the end of the day is because it helps them forget about their personal problems, if even for a moment. For that 30-minute TV show, you’re trapped in someone else’s world, and all you have to do is sit back and relax.

Less Energy Use: It’s simple… you use less energy if you don’t have a TV in the bedroom. Not having a TV in there could mean less strain on your wallet and on the environment.

Cons

It Wakes You Up: If you have trouble falling asleep at night, your TV may be to blame. The brightness of the screen actually makes you more alert, which is not something that you want to feel right before you’re set to doze off.

Less Conversation: Do you live with a significant other or are you thinking about moving in together? If so, a TV may be bad news for the bedroom. Sure, it’s nice to be able to curl up next to your other half as you indulge in your favorite show together, but having the television on every night could mean less conversation.

TVs Attract Dust: Some people have to dust a few times per week. If you’re thinking about adding a TV to your bedroom, you would only be inviting more dust into the space. Watching TV in the bedroom could potentially mean cleaning more frequently.

So now the decision is up to you. Would you like a TV in your bedroom?
