On January 26, 2020 the entire world held its breath as news spread of a tragic helicopter accident involving NBA legend Kobe Bryant (41), his daughter Gianna ‘Gigi’ Bryant (13) and seven others. There will never be any words that can explain a tragedy like this, but the world is doing it’s best to pay tribute and show respect for the lives that were lost. From the basketball courts of the Philippines to the subway stations of New York, Kobe Bryant’s impact and legacy can be felt throughout the world.

In the Philippines, a basketball court is dedicated to the father and daughter duo, Kobe and Gigi.

New York paid respect in their own way, by changing a local stop to ‘Kobe Bryant Park’.

One artist drew a portrait of Kobe and Gigi, and if you look closely, their names ‘Kobe’ and ‘Gigi’ were used to depict the drawing.

Another artist used a basketball hoop…yes a basketball hoop, as a brush to paint a mural of Kobe.

And the Connecticut Huskies, the college team Gigi would have went on to  play for, showed their love by laying out flowers and a jersey with her number.
